Ghost Hunt: Spirit Box & EMF is an entertainment app by ASW Apps, operated by RANIA ABDELALEEM. It has no accounts and runs no servers of its own. Your investigations stay on your device.
01 What stays on your device
Investigations (name, times, optional place name and coordinates), their real magnetic-spike readings and the generated Spirit Box words are stored only on your device. Deleting an investigation or the app removes them.
02 Sensors
The EMF meter reads your phone's magnetometer through Core Motion. Readings are shown live and, during an investigation, magnetic spikes are saved on your device. They are never uploaded.
03 Location (optional)
Only if you tap “Add place”, the app asks for your location once to find your city or area. The coordinate is sent to Apple to look up the place name and is stored on your device with that investigation. It is not shared with anyone else.
04 Microphone and camera
Not used. The Spirit Box does not listen to or record anything; its sound and words are generated by the app.
05 Advertising
The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. Where required by law, you are asked for consent first (Google's consent form), and on iOS you are asked whether to allow tracking. AdMob may collect device identifiers, coarse location derived from your IP address, and ad interaction data to show and measure ads.
06 Analytics
The app uses Firebase Analytics and Remote Config (Google). Analytics records usage events such as “investigation started” or “share card created”, tied to a random Firebase app-instance identifier (not your name or an account), together with basic device information (device model, iOS version, app version and an approximate region derived from your IP address) and, only if you allow tracking, your device's advertising identifier. Remote Config switches app settings remotely, such as turning ads on or off and which of our other apps to suggest. No investigation contents, words or places are sent.
07 Sharing
Share cards are images created on your device. They leave it only when you choose to share them.
08 Third parties
Ads and analytics are provided by Google (AdMob, Firebase Analytics and Remote Config). Google receives only the data described above and processes it under its own privacy terms, which give it the same or equal protection as this policy: policies.google.com/privacy and firebase.google.com/support/privacy. Apart from Google, and Apple for the optional place lookup, the app shares data with no one.
09 Retention and deletion
Investigations stay on your device until you delete them or the app. Google keeps analytics event data for up to 14 months and then deletes it automatically; ad data is kept as described in Google's privacy policy. Uninstalling the app resets the analytics identifier. To ask for deletion of the analytics data linked to your device, email info@aswapps.com.
10 Your choices
Tracking: iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. Ad consent, where it applies: Manage Privacy Choices in this app's Settings › Privacy. Location: iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services. You can change any of these at any time.
11 Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
